Today we had a free day, which was more than needed for us.
Even though it was a free day to relax, our tour guide said the bus would take whomever wished to go, to the Baltic Sea for the afternoon. Our group decided it was worth the trip and less sleep to be able to dip our toes in the Baltic Sea.
We got on the bus and arrived at a very nice resort right on the beach in a town called Sopot. It’s a vacation town in Poland where young people go on school breaks. Like Panama City Beach during spring break to put it into American terms.
One of the first things you notice when you go down to the water is the smell. There’s so much seaweed (it looks like cooked spinach), especially near where the water meets the sand and it smells pretty bad. We managed to find a spot with a little less seaweed and went in up to our ankles and let me tell you, that was enough for us!
The water was freezing, yet there were so many people actually swimming and playing in the water. We definitely take our beaches for granted at home, that’s for sure!
We went and got ice cream and found a shaded bench to sit on and people watch. Europeans are definitely not shy about wearing skimpy bikinis or speedos. Yikes! At least it wasn’t a clothing optional beach!
When we got back to the hotel, we relaxed for about 4 hours. In that time, Mom took a nice, long nap because she woke up this morning with an upset stomach and hasn’t felt well all day. The nap helped a little though.
I got caught up on my blogging and did some reading in bed.
We all went for dinner at a place that served golumpki, which Mom and Aunt Lorraine especially have been dying to find. Mom didn’t eat too much because she didn’t want to upset her stomach, which sucked, but at least she had some! Everyone else practically licked their plates clean!
After everyone ate, Mom and I went to a pizza place for me to eat dinner since I wasn’t really feeling more pierogis and the pizza smelled delicious!
We had yet another Yahtzee game in the lobby tonight, unfortunately with a different winner this time.
Uncle Ray was the one taking home the money tonight, which is a nice change because he came in last the two previous nights. Tonight, three out of the five of us playing Yahtzee got a Yahtzee. While I may not have been one of them, it was still a lot of fun.
I can’t wait to see who wins tomorrow night!
